OX2 plans to develop a 5.5 GW offshore wind project in Sweden

OX2 has submitted a permit application to construct a 5.5 GW offshore wind farm between the islands of Gotland and Öland in Sweden.

The offshore wind farm will comprise up to 370 wind turbines, with a maximum height of 370 m. The electricity production from the planned wind farm will be about 24 TWh per year, which allows providing power to around 5 million households or covering about 17% of the total electricity consumption in Sweden.

OX2 has applied for the permit under the act of Sweden’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The project is in the early development stage and will be situated about 20 km from Gotland island and 30 km from Öland island.
