Vattenfall to start operation of 604 MW offshore wind farm in Denmark

Vattenfall prepares for the inauguration of its 604 MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, Denmark. His Royal Highness the Danish Crown Prince and the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs will inaugurate the farm on September 06, 2021.

Scandinavia's largest offshore wind project has a total of 72 wind turbines, enough to achieve a production capacity of 604 MW, which corresponds to the annual consumption of approximately 600,000 households in Denmark. The turbines are provided by Siemens Gamesa, and each has a total height of 188 metres with a foundation weight of up to 907 tonnes. 

Located in the Baltic Sea, 15-40 kilometers off the Danish coast, the wind farm covers an area of 132 sq. km. It has around 170 kilometers of underwater cables. Once operational, Kriegers Flak will increase the Danish electricity production from wind by around 16%. The estimated investment in the project is EUR1.3 billion (US$1.54 billion). Vattenfall won the tender for the development of the offshore wind farm in November 2016.
