CNE approves development of 93 MW new solar projects

The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission (CNE) has awarded definitive concessions for two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with 93 MW/105.72 MWp of new capacity.

The first project, the 50 MW/ 55.4 MWp Parque Energy Solar del Este Cabreto I, in Santo Domingo province, is owned by French solar developer Urbasolar.

The second project is the 43 MW/50.32 MWp Planta Solar Marti PV plant project, in the same province, owned by the local propane gas distributor Tropigas Dominicana.

CNE has also signed a contract to award a definitive concession to Ridge Partners for the development of a solid waste biodiesel plant in Valverde province. The company estimates the facility will be capable of producing 23.44 million gallons (88.73m liters) per year.
