ENGIE has announced that the project company for a planned 500 MW offshore wind farm off the coasts of Yeu and Noirmoutier islands has obtained the necessary authorisations from the Prefect of Vendée to begin preparing for construction.
Eoliennes en Mer Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN), which is also owned by EDP Renovaveis (EDPR) and Caisse des Dépôts, through la Banque des Territoires, will shortly launch tenders for subcontractors to manufacture and install the wind farm's components.
The Prefect has granted the project a concession for use of public maritime domain and authorisation that it will not negatively impact the aquatic environment. EMYN submitted applications for these authorisations in May 2017. Subsequent consultations have involved State entities, administrative commissions, local authorities, public organizations, professional committees and a public inquiry, held in April and May this year.
The authorisations also cover the establishment of two maintenance bases for the wind farm at Herbaudière (Noirmoutier) and Port-Joinville (Yeu).
