Eni starts operation of 48 MW Badamsha 2 onshore wind project in Kazakhstan
Eni has inaugurated the 48 MW Badamsha 2 Wind Farm located in the Aktobe Region, Kazakhstan.
The onshore wind project was awarded to Eni following an auction managed by the Kazakh Ministry of Energy. It has entered commercial operation in September 2021, around 12 months after starting construction. The wind turbines of Badamsha 2 are the largest installed in Kazakhstan to date. They have a rotor diameter of 158 meters, hub 101 meters and power of 4.8 MW each.
The project is expected to deliver an annual energy generation of up to 200 GWh, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of around 37,000 households. The wind farm will offset around 173,000 tons of CO2 per year. The construction of the Badamsha 2 Wind Farm has created 300 jobs.
