JERA Co., Inc., through its subsidiary JERA Power Taketoyo G.K., has started the commercial operation of the 1,070 MW Taketoyo Thermal Power Station Unit 5 located in 1-1 Ryugu, Taketoyo-Cho, Chita County, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The company has been conducting the replacement work of aging equipment.
The Thermal Power Station Unit 5 is a high-efficiency coal-fired power station that is equipped with an ultra-supercritical (USC) power generation system. The facility uses coal and woody biomass as fuel for the operation.
The project is expected to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible to mitigate environmental impact.
