Green Investment Group (GIG), a joint investment arm of French utility Engie SA and Macquarie Group Ltd., plans to build a 150 MW/150 MWh battery energy storage project at the side of a former coal-fired complex in the Latrobe Valley in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Named as Hazelwood Battery Energy Storage System, the energy storage project will be built Fluence that is commissioned as the full turnkey project contractor to build, operate and maintain the project for over 20 years.
The energy storage will connect to the existing network infrastructure once operational by November 2022. The project will use Fluence’s Gridstack battery system.
