Nevada's PUC approves 1.19 GW of solar, 590 MW of energy storage projects

NV Energy, an energy utility in Nevada, has secured approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) for the development of up to 1.19 GW of new solar projects and 590 MW of energy storage facilities.

The projects involved are the 200 MW Arrow Canyon solar photovoltaic project developed by EDF Renewables North America which has 75 MW of energy storage facility; the Southern Bighorn Solar & Storage Centre Project which involves a 300 MW (475 MWdc) solar photovoltaic facility and a 135 MW (541 MWh) of energy storage developed by 8Minutes Solar Energ in Clark County; and the 690 MW Gemini solar with 380 MW of energy storage capacity in Clark County developed by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and Arevia Power.

The three projects are scheduled to be operational by 2024.
