Origin Energy has planned to build a two-stage, 300MW solar with battery storage project near Morgan in the Riverland Region of South Australia.
Origin has submitted the Stage 1 development application to the State Commission Assessment Panel. The company is set to install up to 150MW (120MWac) of solar spread across around 171 hectares of the land and 30 MW battery storage on another approximately 2.5 hectares, it also includes an operations center, such as control room, an operations shed, a switchboard and substation. The project is located about 6 km to the north-east of the Mid Murray Council town of Morgan and to the north of the Goyder Highway.
The second stage would have a energy storage system that is complemented on the solar photovoltaic project and would be connected to the grid via the proposed SA-NSW interconnector (Energy Connect). This proposal will subjected to a techncal study
