Ørsted and Eversource Energy have received permits for the 132 MW South Fork offshore wind project to install the export cable system onshore, as well as the associated interconnection facility in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, Long Island.
The South Fork wind farm will comprise 11 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines installed at the project site around 30 kilometers (19 miles) southeast of Block Island, Rhode Island and 56 kilometers (35 miles) east of Montauk Point, New York.
Offshore installation of the project’s monopile foundations and the 11 MW wind turbines is expected to begin in summer 2023.
