Plug Power Inc has started the construction of a US$290 million green hydrogen production facility with a 450 MW electricity substation located in New York, USA.

The project will be constructed at the Western New York Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP) in the Town of Alabama in Genesee County. It is designed to generate up to 45 metric tonnes of green liquid hydrogen per day to serve the Northeast region.

The hydrogen plant will use the energy produced from a hydropower project of the  New York Power Authority (NYPA). Plug Power will also procure 143 MW of high-load factor power from the energy market to support its hydrogen operation.
