Shell to build LNG terminal in Batangas

Shell Energy Philippines plans to invest a sum of PHP3.5 billion (US$66 million) for the development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Batangas City, the Philippines. 

The LNG import terminal will be developed inside the import terminal of Shell Tabangao owned by Pilipinas Shell Petroleum (PSPC). The project involves reviving the proposed LNG import terminal which was proposed by Tabangao Realty (TRI) in a filing with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau in 2013. Due to issues including unstable market conditions and high development costs, among others, the initial project was postponed.

The company plans to start pre-construction after the detailed design is completed, with the construction set to begin in Q1 2024.
