Vattenfall was granted permission to develop the 980 MW N-7.2 offshore wind power project off the coast of the German island of Borkum in the North Sea having exercised its right of entry.

Vattenfall has informed German authorities, as part of the bidding process, that it is exercising its right of entry to the project, thereby acquiring the right to develop and construct the wind farm.

The wind farm could be connected to the German grid in 2027.  It is anticipated to produce enough fossil-free electricity to meet the needs of over one million German households.
