Iberdrola secures EIS for 375 MW Solar PV project in Spain

Iberdrola announced that it has obtained the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for its 375 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the municipality of Cedillo, Cáceres, Spain. The Town Council and the Cedillo Agrarian Society are in favor of the solar farm. It will be situated on a communal farm owned by many local residents.

The solar facility will utilize 576,000 bifacial PV modules with two light-sensitive surfaces, allowing for increased output and contributing to the annual generation of over 582.4 GWh of green energy. it has the capacity to generate enough energy to power about 178,000 homes and offset 77,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly.

Faramax will provide the transformers while IMEDEXSA will provide the towers of the evacuation power line. The project's output will be transmitted via an encapsulated substation that also serves two PV installations with a total capacity of 100 MW and a hydroelectric plant with a capacity of about 500 MW located in the same municipality.
