Subsidiaries include Scottish Power (Scotland), Iberdrola USA (United States), and Elektro (Brazil), amongst others. The largest shareholder of the company was, 2013, Qatar Investment Holding; other significant shareholders are ACS, Kutxabank, and Bankia.
The company's business is structured into four segments: Network Business, including all the energy transmission and distribution activities, and any other regulated activity originating in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Brazil; Deregulated Business, including electricity generation and sales businesses as well as gas trading and storage businesses carried on by the Group in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and North America; Renewable: activities relating to renewable energies in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and the rest of the world; Other Businesses, comprising the engineering and construction businesses and the non-power businesses; and Corporation which includes the costs of the Group's structure (Single Corporation), of the administration services of the corporate areas that are subsequently invoiced to the other companies through either specific service.
