Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has secured two sites in Catalonia, Spain, for its two large-scale industrial biogas projects. The two plants will save more than 150,000 tons of CO2 yearly.
The La Sentiu and Linyola facilities will utilize organic waste (pig manure, slaughterhouse waste, etc.) as feedstock. The plants will produce green gas (biomethane) for injection into the existing natural gas grid and contribute to circularity by recirculating organic materials as fertilizer for agricultural use and biogen CO2 for industrial use or Power-to-X initiatives.
Lundsby Biogas A/S will participate in the project's development as a minority shareholder. Together with Connect Bioenergy, CIP will install the plants in anticipation of a Final Investment Decision in 2024.
